HPE SmartCache – to accelerate access to multi-terabytes of data in a direct-attached storage (DAS) environment

HPE_logo   HPE SmartCache – a controller-based caching solution in a Direct Attached Storage (DAS) environment that caches the most  frequently accessed data „hot data“ onto lower latency high performing SSDs to dynamically accelerate application workloads – this caching Feature requires a license  key for activation

HPE SmartCache supports two write policies

The write-through policy is designed to accelerate read-intensive workloads – writes of hot  data may go to the accelerator but writes always go to bulk storage there is no data loss if the accelerator fails

The write-back policy is designed to accelerate both read and write workloads – writes of  hot data may go to the accelerator and be forwarded to bulk storage at a later time. If the accelerator fails before all write data has been forwarded to bulk storage then there is data loss so HPE recommends a RAID 1 accelerator
