DataCore SANmelody – Pimp My Storage
Dienstag, Februar 3rd, 2009DataCore SANmelody – Reclaiming Unused Space on Networked Managed Virtual Volumes (NMV)
Samstag, Januar 17th, 2009It is possible to reclaim Network Managed Volume storage allocation units (SAUs) from DataCore virtual volumes mapped to Application Servers after files have been deleted. Basically, this process consists of filling any disk space that was previously used (allocated), but currently unused, with zeros, then running the DataCore Utility DcsNmvCleanup.exe. This command line utility will deallocate any storage allocation units (SAUs) filled with zeros so that the SAUs are returned to the NMV pool
DataCore SANmelody – „Storage Product of the Year“ and „Green Project of the Year“ at 2008 UK Storage Awards
Samstag, August 2nd, 2008DataCore Software, the leading provider of storage virtualization software, today announced that last Thursday its SANmelody(tm) software received the UK Storage Award’s „Storage Product of the Year“ at the Tower Hotel, London. Voted for by readers of Storage Magazine, the award recognizes the ability of SANmelody to reduce the complexity normally associated with traditional Storage Area Network (SAN) storage – providing cost savings, increased productivity and optimal utilization. At the same ceremony, DataCore Software also scooped the „Green Project of the Year“ through their SANsymphony(tm) installation at Honda Racing F1 Team with gold accredited partner, NCE, which dramatically improved Honda’s overall storage utilization
DataCore SANmelody – Virtual Infrastructure Foundation
Samstag, April 5th, 2008Go Virtual with DataCore! This value package combines – Storage management, Virtual Capacity Thin-Provisioning, iSCSI Support, Performance Acceleration and SANmotion – an ideal solution for smaller and midsized offices and workgroups that want to achieve a new level of flexibility in managing the utilization of storage resources to multiple systems. Leverage existing Ethernet and IP/LAN network interconnections to optimize storage space and capacity utilization across many servers. SANmelody transforms a PC into a powerful and cost effective disk server that serves disk space over a network an affordable IP storage network or iSCSI SAN. The powerful Auto Provisioning Virtual Capacity feature demonstrates the ease and flexibility of virtualization. The Auto-provisioning feature presents very large virtual volumes (disks) to applications, but only allocates disk blocks and space dynamically as the application consumes it. This „just-in-time“ storage allocation auto-grow capability maximizes disk space utilization and enhances productivity through automation
DataCore SANmelody – Virtual Infrastructure Foundation (VIF) Acceleration

DataCore SANmelody – Advanced Features
Samstag, Januar 12th, 2008SANmelody software converts PC servers into cost-effective expansion disk servers. Their added capacity appears as additional internal drives to disk-starved servers on LANs or SANs. This simple solution eliminates the need to commission extra application servers when the existing systems have no more room to add disks. Advanced options include point-in-time snapshots, auto failover across redundant disk servers, auto provisioning of disk space and long-distance asynchronous replication over IP WANs. These functions are host-independent and operate without occupying resources on the application servers
